Florida bans license plate readers from highways as DeSantis moves to de-flock roads
The official narrative is that Florida’s highways are being improved for both cleanliness and privacy: license plate readers are banned, and the flock is moved off the roads. The mechanism is wrong register—the actions are framed as public safety, but the real effect is surveillance reduction and a cosmetic sweep.
