El-Sayed apologizes to Jewish Democrats, hires liaison, then joins panel with 9/11 conspiracy theorists

“He apologizes on Saturday, hires the liaison Monday, and by Thursday he's on a stage with 9/11 truthers — that's not a scandal, that's a scheduling department that never talks to the outreach department. Every time this guy builds a plank toward the center, somebody in his own operation books the wrecking ball for the same week, and I don't think that's incompetence, I think it's the price of running in a party that hasn't decided what it wants him to be. Meanwhile the guy who beat Stevens in the primary is the one left explaining a convention panel to Jewish voters he just apologized to — that's the whole race in one week.”

“Look, nobody is saying Dr. El-Sayed is a hypocrite for booking a conference — we're just noting a pattern, which, okay, fine, is the same thing we said about the liaison hire, and the apology, and the Piker thing. That doesn't sound like me. What I mean is: Congresswoman Stevens is out there this week describing anti-Zionism as a "sickness," which is a strong word, and a fair one, and if El-Sayed wants to share a stage with 9/11 conspiracy theorists that's his call, we're just reporting the calendar. The calendar is doing the talking here, not us.”
