Audit finds $1.2 billion lost to fraud in 2024; contractors get more contracts anyway
🍺
“They lose a billion two of somebody's money in a single year and the reply isn't a smaller check, it's a bigger one, routed through whatever pipeline hasn't been audited yet this year — Treasury one year, an ally's stockpile the next, a blueprint after that. That's not a paperwork problem, that's a subscription plan for the same contractors, and the renewal fee comes out of whoever's wallet is holding the pipeline that month.”
“Look, an audit that finds $1.2 billion in fraud means the oversight is working exactly as designed — you caught it, didn't you? Sure, the same contractors got new contracts right after, but you don't halt weapons to a country at war over a bookkeeping issue. Wait — did I just call $1.2 billion a bookkeeping issue? Strike that, we're proud of the transparency here.”
