Giuliani demands Mamdani skip 9/11 ceremony he'd already said should stay out of politics
“The demand that Mamdani skip his own city's ceremony started August 30th, four days before he even said the words about remembrance, not politics. Giuliani's real complaint is that Mamdani might not agree with him on how to describe the attack — that's not a defense of the dead, that's a script note. Officers, families, a former mayor: four separate demands, and the one quote in this whole pile about keeping the ceremony out of politics belongs to the man they're demanding stay out of it.”
“Look, nobody's silencing anybody, we're just saying the mayor should maybe sit this one out — respect for the fallen, respect for the families, that's the whole ask.
