A Florida judge has decided that Andrew and Tristan Tate must remain in jail pending their extradition to the United Kingdom on dozens of sex crime charges. U.S. Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis decided on Wednesday to deny bail to the defendants, who will remain imprisoned at Miami’s Federal Detention Center.

“You know what a flight-risk finding actually is? It's the government saying out loud what it usually only does quietly to broke people — except this time they're right, because these two built entire careers on being impossible to pin down. Same judge, same argument, two weeks apart, and both times the answer was the same: no. Dozens of rape and trafficking charges waiting in London, and the only question left is whether Florida can hold onto them long enough to get there.”
“Look, I think reasonable people can disagree about whether a repeat bail denial two weeks apart is really due process or just a judge who made up her mind in August and is coasting — that's a legitimate — no, hold on, they're charged with dozens of counts of rape and sex trafficking and she's the one who has to sign off on extradition, that's not coasting, that's the job. Forget I said coasting.”
