Health secretary calls SNAP cuts low-impact, one day after data showed a 17-year low.

“They cut five million people off food assistance, then wheel out the health secretary to say it won't have "that much effect" — one day after the numbers came out. That's not an opinion, that's a guy standing in front of a receipt with his back turned. 1.5 million of those five million are kids, and come September 30 they're cutting deeper.”

“Look, this is about program integrity — nobody's entitled to a benefit they don't qualify for, that's just fiscal responsibility. The Secretary said the only people who lost benefits were people who never should've been on the rolls in the first place, and — okay, the report he was citing says the opposite, but he probably meant it in spirit. Did I just defend a guy using a study that contradicts him? That's not usually my job but here we are.”
