Mayor mocked for a nor'easter TikTok is the same one who unsealed 25 years of hidden 9/11 files.

That ran September 27. The record runs the other direction.
On September 8, a watchdog group representing 9/11 first responders and survivors thanked Mamdani's administration for releasing a trove of long-buried air-quality files — documents that finally answer what the city knew about the toxic cloud at Ground Zero, and when it knew it. The watchdog called him the first mayor in twenty-five years to open that file.…
…(cont) That same day, a coalition of 9/11 families gathered on the steps of City Hall with a different message: they asked Mamdani not to attend this year's memorial ceremony. "This mayor is not serving us," said Charles Wolf, who lost his wife on 9/11. "He's serving himself."
Four days after that, at the UN General Assembly, Benjamin Netanyahu told the world that Hamas are Mamdani's "buddies," attacking him for his scrutiny of Israel and for trying to have Netanyahu arrested while he was in New York for the gathering.
Three days after that, the nor'easter TikTok ran, and a newspaper decided that was the week's story.
Line up what actually happened, in the order it happened: a twenty-five-year-old public health file got opened, a family coalition drew a line he has to answer for, a sitting president made time for him on his own ground, and a foreign head of government used a UN podium to call him out by name. Then a sketch got built around a dance move.
None of that is spin. It's the schedule. A mayor carrying that much can survive a joke about a nor'easter — the files don't go back in the drawer because a sketch ran.
Twenty-five years is how long the air-quality files sat sealed. Nineteen days is how long it took for a TikTok to become the story instead.
