Fox blames open borders for France's riots; its own wire blamed them on school funding.

“France’s violent student protests raise warning for America: ‘A cautionary tale’”, 4 October 2026 (Photo via Fox News — the original report)

As it ran on the front

On Saturday's Big Weekend Show, the host called France's student riots "a cautionary tale" for the United States, the kind of unrest open borders are supposed to produce somewhere down the line. It is a tidy thesis, and the wire this network filed three days earlier gets in its way before the host finishes the sentence.

Start where the facts start, on October 1st. This outlet's own dispatch that day was headlined "hundreds arrested, violence spreads nationwide," and it quoted officials warning of "outside agitators." Outside agitators — meaning inside the country, not outside the border. That is a claim about domestic troublemakers, filed by this network's own reporters, and it is the opposite of the claim the host would make three days later. Put the open-borders line next to that sentence. It does not — it does not survive contact with its own wire.…

…(cont) The same day, the Washington Examiner filed its account of the same unrest and called it "far-left instigation." Different outlet, same domestic frame: the trouble, on this telling, comes from inside French politics, not from France's border policy. Two right-leaning outlets, one week, zero mentions of immigration as the cause — both published before the host found one.

Also on October 1st, the New York Post reported that attackers had doused a headteacher in gasoline and set fires in at least two schools. That is the receipt the word "violent" in these headlines was standing in for. It has nothing to do with who is allowed to cross a border; it has to do with what happened inside one.

By October 2nd, the picture the Post filed had a cause attached to it: riot police clashing with students in cities across France as President Macron's government "battled to contain" protests over — hold on, over classroom conditions and funding. Not immigration. Students were in the street about their own schools.

So the cautionary tale delivered Saturday runs straight into the cautionary tale this network and its rivals had already filed the week before: a teacher doused in gasoline, a government fighting over school funding, and not one word, anywhere in the receipts, about who got across what border.

“They tell you it's a warning about open borders, then their own guys already filed the real story: a teacher gets doused in gas because the school district's broke. That's the whole con — scare people about the fence so nobody asks why the classrooms don't have money. The kid in that French classroom and the kid in the one down the street from you are fighting the same fight, and it's not about who's crossing a line on a map.”
Sal
“Look, open borders breed disorder, that's just pattern recognition — you watch enough unrest, you start seeing the shape of it. Our own reporters did call it outside agitators and far-left instigation on this exact story, which, fine, is not actually an immigration story, it's a — yeah, it's a different story. Scratch the cautionary tale, run it as a weather report instead.”
