Cornell's 'serious look' at frat rape case doxxes a Marine's family with the wrong address.

As it ran on the front
Cornell University's president wants you to know the school is taking a "serious look" at fraternities. That is the sentence, verbatim, issued this past Saturday, after a civil lawsuit alleged a Cornell student was drugged and gang-raped by seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity in 2024. A serious look. Not a suspension. Not an expulsion. A look.
So the look was already being graded before anyone took it. Call it timing. Or — no. Call it what the lawyer called it: a university protecting itself first and reviewing itself second.…
…(cont) A serious look at a fraternity system is not the same as a serious look at that number. The rally did not confuse the two, even if the press release tried to.
Then the lawsuit itself became evidence of something else. Fox News reported this week that the Jane Doe filing listed an address meant to locate one of the accused — and the address was wrong. It belonged to a U.S. Marine's family with no connection to Cornell, Chi Phi, or any of it. The family says they have since been doxxed and threatened over a clerical error in someone else's civil complaint, which is — the process exists to protect people, that's the — no. It did not protect them. It became the threat.
And while Cornell was looking, the University of Arizona was acting. By the end of the week, Arizona had suspended six fraternities outright and paused activity at nearly every other chapter, after an internal memo described an "egregious" number of misconduct reports — not a review scheduled for later, a shutdown issued in days. Cornell's president still has not said when the serious look ends. Arizona's did not wait to find out what serious was supposed to mean.
“They write a press release instead of writing a check — that's the whole trick to a "serious look." Nobody gets suspended, nobody gets sued, and some family three states away ends up answering threats over an address a lawyer never bothered to check. Arizona proved in one week it never had to take that long.”
“A "serious look" is due process working exactly the way it's supposed to — you don't suspend a whole fraternity system on allegations alone, that's not how Cornell operates, that's not how any serious institution — well, Arizona suspended six chapters in the time Cornell spent writing one sentence, so maybe scratch that.”
