Carlson doubts Britain should have fought WWII; Cruz answers that the UK is better off for winning it.

The agreement that the mainstream American right would leave World War Two alone died this week. It was not law. It was not written into any platform. It held for most of eighty years the way a load-bearing wall holds without anyone pointing at it.

The calls were not new; they were the same ones renewed, with Carlson now listed as the source.

By Jacob Rees-Mogg, the former Conservative member of the UK Parliament handed the strangest assignment of his career: sitting across from Carlson on October 3rd to field the question of whether Britain was better off having fought the war it won.

Carlson had pressed whether the UK "benefited" from its involvement. Cruz posted the record in one line: "Yes, Tucker, the UK is better off for winning WWII."

National Review's headline did not ask whether Carlson was flirting with revisionism. It stated that he is one, the way a chart states a diagnosis once the tests come back.

None of this required a vote. No committee struck the old agreement; no memo went out. It simply stopped being true that a prime-time host could ask whether a country should have fought the Nazis and lose his seat at the table for it. The seat held. The friendship held too.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the next person handed a microphone and a direct question about World War Two be made to answer it, on air, before the segment ends.
