On Newsmax, host Rob Finnerty asked him; he said: "I'm not a big fan of Zelensky. They've destroyed that country." The New York Times called it a deal inflaming the war it was meant to end.

Here is the mishap: before any of this, pro-Russian accounts claimed a Russian tanker was already carrying diesel to American shores under the new deal. France 24 checked; it was carrying fertiliser.

The Guardian, what they have here, prints it as the "energy ceasefire" — its own quotation marks — and says neither Russia nor Ukraine agreed to it. The New York Times at home drops the quotes and calls it simply a deal.

You will be looking for the two signatures that make a ceasefire a ceasefire. There are none; the quotation marks are standing in for them.

This serves the Russian refiners, paid in dollars now the sanctions are off. Ukraine pays in allies, rallying Europe's since Washington stopped being reliable.
