Whatever France’s immediate future, greatness is not going to be part of the picture.

Kansas rally recasts French school-funding protest as migrants, jihadists and communists, two weeks before Republicans face voters.

As it ran on the front
The ledger opens on September ninth, in Dallas, where the president told the party's midterm convention that American adults would receive five thousand dollars each if Republicans held Congress. On the fifteenth, two papers filed two different stories. The Washington Examiner quoted the Treasury secretary saying his department was "examining" whether it could cut that check without a vote from Congress. The New York Times, the same day, ran a separate dispatch on the secretary defending a faltering bond-market intervention — a story that never mentions the five thousand dollars at all. Those are two filings, not one, and this desk keeps them that way. By the week's end, 750,000 Americans had lost their health coverage.
This week the ledger moves to Paris. The Guardian reports the demonstrations there began among high school students, over crumbling schools and the cost of living — a school-funding complaint, filed by the people paying the tuition and the heating bill. By Monday evening, at a rally in Kansas, the president had recast that filing. France, he told the crowd, had been "conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists, and communists." The Hill, reporting the same week, calls this a last-ditch midterm argument, filed two weeks before the vote.…
…(cont) National Review ran two on the same day — "The Anti-French Revolt in France" and "France in Flames." The New York Post had already filed it on the tenth, calling the unrest a "radical Muslim population" story. The Washington Examiner ran a piece accusing a sitting member of Congress of calling the arson "inspiring." Fox News carried a House Republican's warning that a French civil war could be imported here. Four outlets, one complaint, run through customs and relabeled.
Reconcile the two filings side by side. One is a protest over what a government spends on schools and heat. The other is what five pieces of copy, printed the same week, call it instead. The line item never changes; it is still schools, still heat, still the cost of living. Only the label on the folder changes. That relabeling lands, as a matter of the calendar, two weeks before Americans vote on who keeps paying for which, hon. The checks are still zero dollars. The riots are still about the rent.
“They promised five thousand dollars, then told Treasury to go check if it even needs Congress to cut it — that's the dollar story still sitting open. Two weeks before the vote they needed a new scare, so four papers shipped one in from Paris and relabeled a school-funding protest as civil war. The checks never cleared, the coverage already did, and now the job is making you scared of somebody else's riot instead.”
“France is a preview — you saw the cars burning, that's not school funding, that's a nation under pressure from radical elements, and pointing that out is pattern recognition, not fearmongering. The five-thousand-dollar thing, that's a totally separate affordability initiative, and frankly comparing it to Paris riots is the kind of whataboutism that — did I just defend both of these in the same breath? That doesn't sound like me.”

President at Kansas rally tries to turn protests into cautionary tale for US as Republicans face potential midterm losses Explainer: why are people protesting across Europe? As Republicans confront mounting political headwinds ahead of November’s midterm elections, Donald Trump is attempting to turn unrest in France into a cautionary…
The French are revolting. It’s a tradition with them. Riots are as French as croissants, adultery and the 35-hour work week.
Political France is in for rough times, no matter who sits in the Élysée Palace.
A top House Republican blames France riots on mass migration, warning America could face the same future if it doesn't learn from the Paris chaos.
Protests and riots in France have become the latest Republican talking point in the U.S. as the party makes a last-ditch effort to tie Democrats to immigration and socialism two weeks out from the midterm elections. Protesters, largely high school students, first took to the streets earlier this month to demand better school conditions.
