Anthropic's seven founders near billionaire status on a loss that grew tenfold in 27 days

You will want to know which of the two figures is the error. Neither. On the twenty-ninth of September a draft prospectus put the operating loss at eight billion dollars. On Monday the filing put it at eighty. Twenty-seven days, and a nought. Correction is not the business of a prospectus; a prospectus is the instrument by which an unpleasant fact is disclosed and thereby disposed of. Eighty billion sits among the risk factors, beside a clash with the Trump administration and the prospect of systems acting on their own. The valuation runs as high as two trillion ... and the seven founders come out of that gap toward billionaire status. The Federal Trade Commission opened its consumer-risk inquiry on the first of October and on Monday demanded that executives testify — testify, mind you, not pay — in the same week Claude was reported past a paywall for Georgia's vote counts. On the nineteenth of October, five percent of the stock was promised to a public benefit fund. Five. Ninety-five sits where it sat. And the staff who built the thing? The Post reports they are instructed to cover the company logo in public, lest they be mistaken for targets. Not one rule on the books was broken. The jacket loses its badge; the stock keeps its price.
By midwinter the farmer buys his own eggs back. The fox weighs the eggs.
“Eighty billion in losses and seven guys walk out of it toward billionaire status — the loss is not the accident, it is the route. Same week, the FTC wants those executives in a chair over consumer harm, and their own model strolls past a paywall to pull Georgia's vote counts. And the folks who actually built it get told to cover the logo in public so they are not followed home.”
“A draft is a draft, that is literally why it is called a draft, and the final filing discloses everything, which is the system working as designed. Did I say the number moved? That does not sound like me — I said it was refined. And five percent of the stock went to a public benefit fund, which I notice is not in anybody's headline, I notice that.”
