Senator Blumenthal has formally demanded the accounting for $1.17 billion in Secret Service funds diverted toward the ballroom project 1. Senators Warren, Hirono and Durbin have demanded the Justice Department reverse its retreat from crypto enforcement, in writing, on the record 2. None of this stops anything today. But capture's one vulnerability is the ledger — every diverted dollar and closed investigation documented now is a subpoena's roadmap later. The needle sits at RECEIPTS rather than RECKONING because the reckoning requires power the party does not yet hold. The receipts are how it gets there.

Sixteen months earlier, the Justice Department disbanded its crypto enforcement team and ordered investigations inconsistent with the new policy closed 2. Each fact is routine on its own — a charter approved, an enforcement priority shifted. Read together they describe a sequence: first the police were withdrawn, then the family entered the business. Nobody had to break a law. The laws were rearranged until the thing that needed doing was legal, which is what capture means — the state not shrunk but repurposed, one agency at a time, into the family office.
